We are your learning partner

With us, schools can begin to lay the foundations of learning for life, not just academia. We take teachers and the wider school community through a collaborative and experiential training in order to facilitate the effective delivery of The Big Think (TBT) programme.

The Big Think Five Core Human Values

The Big Think is proud to be part of the Human Values Foundation charity.

Our goal is to empower children to create meaningful relationships with themselves, others and the world around them, while adhering to the statutory guidance on Relationships Education in the UK. We use a combination of Social-Emotional Learning and Values-based learning to achieve this.

We believe that when we learn to connect with each other on the basis of shared values, we start to build healthy relationships.

Children who are values literate have a life-long toolkit that they use to navigate the world around them; from mental health issues, and increased levels of childhood anxiety to sex education and wellbeing - values provide the opportunity for children to reflect on and process these complex topics with more resilience - and make good, informed choices.

Each session we offer as part of our programme provides time for children to reflect on school values, their home values and their own developing values.

Social-Emotional Learning

This is the process of developing the self-awareness, self-management and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and personal success. By using these skills, children are better able to cope with everyday challenges that will benefit them academically, professionally, and socially. From effective problem-solving to self-discipline, from impulse control to emotion management and more, SEL provides a foundation for positive, long-term impact on children, adults, and communities.

Values-based learning

We use 60 values throughout our programme as a foundation to our SEL approach. We believe that values-literate children are more in touch with themselves and the world around them. Values are not simply ‘caught’ – they need to be lived out and reflected upon. The Big Think achieves this through evidence-based, safe and supportive settings and activities such as storytelling, shared experiences and self-reflection.

The Big Think 5 Core Values with 60 Related Values

We want our school to be a place where kindness is the thread that runs through everything that we do. The Big Think programme is fantastic for our school as it provides a supportive framework for the children to reflect on real life situations and helps them to think about their responses in a kind and considerate way.
