Pilot Studies

The Big Think believes in the power of learning and education. This doesn't just apply to the schools, but to ourselves as educators, too.

We began piloting our programme with a number of schools back in 2017 and since then, have gone from strength to strength. Our focus has always been on testing and re-testing and as a result of this learning, we have been able to put together a successful programme that truly supports students, teachers, parents and society. You can check out our pilot schemes, below.

North Harringay Primary School

The Senior Team at North Harringay Primary School (NHPS), a diverse 2-form-entry primary school in North London, were looking for a more cohesive way of working across the school that would promote richer relationships between both children and staff.  Rather than their Values being seen as a set of school rules, they wanted the children to have the ability to choose meaningful values to live by and confidently apply every day in all contexts.  The school started trialling The Big Think in October 2017.

I can’t think why any school wouldn’t want to do it.

Waltham St Lawrence Primary School

Waltham St Lawrence (WSL) is a small primary school in a village outside Maidenhead in East Berkshire. Head Teacher, Li-Juan Ellerton, used our original Values programme for 5 years to underpin the school’s ethos.

The Big Think has shaped the way we teach and learn, and actively defines our Whole Child education. It’s a true whole-school approach that helps each and every child to understand, appreciate, and put all these values into action day in and day out!

Eastfield Primary School

Our pilot project with Eastfield Primary School in Middlesex started in March 2019 and ran for a full academic year. Eastfield had established a strong ethos of Values but wanted to find a way to link whole-school Values assemblies with PSHE classroom practice and then coordinate this with social action in the local community, or even the wider world.

Not only has The Big Think team supported us in implementing the new RSE requirements effectively, they have also provided us with a more progressive curriculum that meets the needs of all our children and is helping us to engage more openly with parents.
